Artist Statement : Time Delay Synthesis

Time Delay Synthesis explores the interplay between contrast gradients and grid adjustments to manipulate the perception of time within a live camera feed. The gradient, ranging from black to white, dictates the extent of delay applied to each frame of the feed. Meanwhile, the grid allows for precise composition adjustments, influencing which parts of the image experience the delay effect.

The default settings establish a continuum where black signifies a delay of -60 frames, while white represents real-time viewing with 0 frames delayed, within a compositional grid.

By providing users with control over the delay parameters, I aim to foster a sense of agency, allowing individuals to shape their unique temporal experiences.

Participants are encouraged to scan the on-screen QR code to receive a recording of their engagement with this interactive installation, extending the dialogue beyond the immediate moment and enabling reflection on the temporal distortions experienced.
